Bob Mason and K9 Gorda

Robert Mason (Bob) was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and after spending his grade school years in Clifton Forge, Virginia graduated in 1986 from West Vigo High School in West Terre Haute, Indiana.

After high school Bob attended Virginia Military Institute (VMI) earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. Upon graduation from VMI Bob attended the University of Wyoming where he accepted a commission into the U.S. Army. Bob served two years with the Cheyenne Fire and Rescue as a Level II certified Firefighter.

After his separation from the Army Bob earned his law degree from the University of Wyoming and was in private legal practice before coming to the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security. In addition to his duties as Grant Manager, Project Coordinator and State Exercise Officer,

Bob is also a Certified Detection Canine Handler where he executes his duties as a Wyoming Deputy State Fire Marshal.

K-9 Gorda is a female Yellow Labrador approximately 3 years old. Gorda received her explosive detection training at Vom Kaiserhofe Training Center in Lawrence, Kansas. In July 2007 Gorda was assigned to her handler, Bob Mason and both were certified as an explosive detection K9 unit.
